Ready to dig in? Then, keep reading for all the delicious details!
Ingredients
These easy recipe requires only five ingredients! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Yogurt - For the best results, I recommend usingwhole milk (full fat) plain yogurt. While nonfat can be used, it won't taste as rich or be as creamy. Greek yogurt also doesn't work well.
- Peanut Butter - Any type of peanut butter works for this recipe, so choose your fave. Other nut butters may also be used.
- Chocolate - I like to use mini chocolate chips. Feel free to use regular chips though, or even chocolate chunks. Just make sure the chocolate pieces aren't too large, otherwise your Chocolate Chip Frozen Yogurt be difficult to eat once frozen.
- Sugar - You'll sweeten this recipe withgranulated sugar. It's neutral flavor complements the tangy yogurt, and it also helps give the Yogurt Ice Cream it's creamy texture.
- Vanilla - A little vanilla extract adds another layer of flavor that's so delish.
This recipe is naturally vegetarian and gluten free!
Tip: Not a peanut butter - chocolate fan? Feel free to skip the chips altogether to make plain Peanut Butter Frozen Yogurt.
You'll Also Need
This recipe requires an ice cream maker. I absolutely love my Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker! It’s so easy to use, and I put mine to work mine year round. It was definitely worth the investment.
Tip: store the bowl insert in your freezer so you can make your favorite frozen treats whenever a craving strikes!
How to Make Peanut Butter Frozen Yogurt
Okay, let's talk about just how easy this easy frozen yogurt recipe is to make! As long as you can mix a few ingredient together, you can do it ... honestly, the machine does most of the work.
You'll find a detailed recipe below, but here's an overview of the steps:
- Mix the ingredients together. You'll start by mixing together the yogurt, sugar, and vanilla. Once that's smooth, whisk in the peanut butter.
- Refrigerate yogurt mixture. Then, before doing anything else, you need to refrigerate this yogurt mixture for at least two hours. If you don’t, it may not freeze once you add it to your ice cream maker.
- Process mixture until frozen. After chilling that yummy peanut butter-yogurt mixture, transfer it to your ice cream maker and start churning. Since every ice cream maker is different, make sure to follow the directions in your owner's manual.
- Add chocolate chips. The frozen yogurt should have a soft serve texture when it's ready. If you're using the chocolate chips, you'll add them about five minutes before it's done mixing.
- Store in freezer. You can eat the yogurt right away, or you can enjoy it later. To do so, transfer the mixture from your machine to an airtight container before storing in your freezer.Tip: If your yogurt is too hard to scoop once frozen, let it sit on your counter for 10 to 15 minutes first. This will allow it to soften, and will make scooping much easier.
Time to eat your amazing Chocolate Peanut Butter Frozen Yogurt ... wasn't that simple? This is a recipe you're guaranteed to enjoy all summer long. So make a batch today!
Tip: If you have an ice cream maker like mine, you’ll also need to freeze the inner bowl. I recommend freezing it 24 hours or overnight for best results. I actually like to store the bowl in my freezer ... that way, it's always ready to go!

Frequently Asked Questions
Still have questions? I've answered some of the questions I’ve received about this recipe below:
Can you use Greek Yogurt to make frozen Yogurt?
I don’t recommend using Greek Yogurt to make this recipe, because it’s super thick. One of my readers tried it, and their ice cream maker stopped mixing before their froyo turned into the right texture.
Can you use nonfat yogurt to make Peanut Butter Chocolate Frozen Yogurt?
Yes, you can use nonfat yogurt to make this recipe. However, I recommend using full fat yogurt, because the end result will be much creamier and will have more flavor.
Do you need to use an ice cream machine?
This recipe will turn out best if you use an ice cream maker. As the yogurt freezes, ice crystals start to form. The constantly mixing ice cream maker breaks up the crystals, leading to a smoother, creamier texture. If you do try to make this recipe without a machine, make sure to stir the froyo frequently as it freezes.

I've never made it that way, but you can certainly try. I think it will work, but the texture probably won't be quite as smooth. Let me know if you try it. I'd love to hear how it turns out.
